Feast of Tabernacles (October 14-21)
BIRTHING THE FRESH WIND, RAIN, AND FIRE OF THE SPIRIT
Ezekiel 47:1-12
Dear National Intercessor,
You are invited to join with 700 intercessors from across the nation, for a time of prayer and fasting for God’s promises for our nation. We will gather in Cleveland Tennessee from October 14 to 21, 2008. God said, “When you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you” (Jeremiah 29:13,14). When we are willing to set aside the legitimate appetites of the body to concentrate on the work of praying, demonstrate that we mean business and that we are seeking God with all our heart, the Lord will reveal Himself.
Fasting is an expression of wholeheartedness. This is clear from Joel’s call to the nation of Israel: “Yet even now,” says the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting. . .” (Joel 2:12). In God’s Word we always find praying and fasting connected with a very troubled spirit or a very anxious heart before the Lord. So a reason for praying and fasting is not something you choose on the spur of the moment. Rather the reason is a consuming one. In a sense, it’s not something you choose, so much as something that chooses you, because it’s that important.
We are experiencing Spiritual birthing pains. The signs of Spiritual labor are all around us: Since January 2008 our nation has experienced more than 900 tornadoes with more than 50 fatalities as of May 1 2008. our economy is struggling, and there are record high food and gas prices while the threat of terror is always looming. Tens of thousands of people have died in China and Myanmar. The wake up call is clear and loud! We will pray and fast to demonstrate that we are seeking God “with all our heart.” Fasting puts things in proper focus. It is a physical way of saying, “Food and the things of this life are not as important to me now as the condition of my nation and my world.”
